Braintree & North Essex Sunday League Division 1 side Beacon Hill Social have had the icing added to their successes of last season with two nominations in the local Essex Chronicle annual Sports Awards 2012.
Manager Wayne Purser has been nominated in the Unsung Hero awards category after leading his team to a Braintree and District League 2 Cup double last year, who themselves have been nominated in the Team of the Year category.
Wayne spoke of his surprise at his nomination but was extremely happy with that of his team. “Its fantastic that the lads have received this recognition after all of last years hard work, i just hope that their friends and family take the time to register their votes for them. It would also be a great piece of publicity for the league that we play in and i hope some of our fellow opponents teams members will add their votes to our nomination, Beacon Hill Social were also named the Braintree and District League Team of the Year at our very own awards ceremony in June.
The voting is now open and closes at midnight on Sunday October 7th when a final shortlist of 5 in each category will be judged by an expert sporting panel. The winners will be invited to a lavish dinner and awards ceremony at Chelmsford City Football Club on Friday 9th November where the best of local sport will be announced.
To register your vote for Wayne and/or the Social team you can either purchase the Essex Chronicle (out every week on a Thursday) and complete the voucher in the paper or text your vote.
