Week 2 of the season and some big games happening early in the season that could prove crucial towards the end. The Premier Division saw a great result for Western Arms away to SC Crittall, Dan Mackie, Dave Harrison, Kevin Hawes and Kean Riseborough. Matt Staines got the consolation for Crittall.
Beaumont Wanderers made up for last week by winning 5-1 over Rayne, Beaumont had the lion’s share of the possession and the better chances in the first half but could only come in level at 1-1 but the half time chat must of done the trick scoring 4 more times to get that all important victory. Sporting 77 had a bad day as they lost 4-0 at home to Titan United Ryan Smalling with a hat-trick and one from Nick getting Titans first win of their campaign.
The First Division saw Witham Galacticos win 4-1 over Panfield Bell in a closely fought game the score was 0-0 at half time but Galacticos came out the stronger after the break goals from Jamie Panting a penalty from Mitchell Yeo, Jamie Laws and Harry Stoneham the consolation from Panfield was also a penalty from Michael Thompson.
Terling Villa sneaked a 1-0 win over Valley Green the scorer being Matt Davies. Manor Works recovered from last week’s defeat to win 8-3 over CFC Shalford Reserves.
In the Second Division Witham Nomads were 3 up by half time and then scored a forth early in the second before 2 goals from Josh Jenkins and Gary Harbert narrowed the gap but Nomads held strong for their second win of the season so far.
Tiptree Elite and Witham United both won 6-1 over SC Kelvedon and TK Eagles Jack Smith with a brace, Joe Fairbrother, Marti Cullum and Jed Harrington plus an own goal for Witham United.
Game of the day went to Coggeshall Town who scored an impressive 14 goals without reply against another new team Broomfield in Division Three. 5 from Liam Whittaker, Harvey Clark with a hat-trick a brace from Sam O’Connell and one apiece for Luke Thorndyke, Luke Hinds, Lloyd Gooday and Mat Willis completed the scoring and gave them their second win of the season.
Onley Arms got their season off to a good start winning 2-0 over Valley Green Reserves scorers Jack Soar and Luke Markey.
In the Premier Division cup first round George FC entertained CFC Shalford. In a even opening exchanges it was Shalford who took the lead mid-way through the first half when Sam Jones headed powerfully into the net. Shalford doubled their lead when Toby Blanche finished well across the keeper, It was 3-0 to Shalford fifteen minutes later when Andy Turner finished off a fine move at the far post. George pulled a consolation back with 8 minutes remaining when Steve Parsons scored.
In the first division cup first round saw Bocking Social and Zizou have a very close game with no major chances in the first 45 but early in the second Craig Copas went on a twisting solo run and score the only goal of the game.
Panfield Bell Reserves who lost 7-1 to Sporting 77 Reserves scorer for the bell was Kev Wells.
The Third division cup first round had Witham Phoenix hit six for a second week as they move into the next round knocking Witham Swan out 6-2 and joining them in the next round was Notley who put eight without reply past Bocking Social Reserves scorers for Notley were Ashley Phillips 4, Thomas Lightly, Adam Potts, Callam Ferrell and Connor Packman. Next week a full league programme with Old Bramstonians, CSS Celtic, Great Bardfield and Silver End Social getting their seasons started.
