Results Round Up – Sunday 10th October 2021

It was a mixed bag of fixtures this weekend in the Braintree & North Essex Sunday League.

Essex Sunday Junior Cup, Essex Sunday Junior Trophy, League and local cup matches.

We start with the Essex Sunday Junior Cup.

Witham United beat Ramsey & Mistley 9-2 away with goals coming from Ryan McCormack 1, Jedd Merton 3, Scott Barrett 2, Rick Lefty 2, Andy Barker 1. Kelvedon Social also won away from home winning 4-0 goals scored by Liam Murphy 2, Andrew French and Mitcham Brand.

High Easter 2 Social Club Birchanger 1

On paper this fixture between High Easter and Social Club Birchanger from the Harlow League looked a mouth watering prospect as both teams are going well in there respective divisions and it did not disappoint with High Easter easing through to the next round with another home match to come. The first twenty minutes was a tight contest with both teams playing good passing football, but some excellent defending by High Easter`s Ollie Blower near the end of the first half saw him pick up a nasty cut eye, near the eyebrow and quickly received help from the players with a bandage and took no further part in the match. The home team took the lead when good play by Adam Griggs, his pass found Christian Roles to score from an acute angle to make it 1-0 at Half Time, with Birchanger playing very well. High Easter scored a second goal, while under pressure from the away team, Lewis Roe picked up a great pass and slipped the ball past the Birchanger keeper Andrew Newman to make it 2-0.Birchanger were now working hard and High Easter keeper Josh Breeze was keeping his team in the game pulling off good saves, the away team also hit the cross bar, a deserved goal was scored for Birchanger by Jordan Trott to make the final minutes a bit tence, but the High Easter defence held firm and held on to the 2-1 victory.

Essex Sunday Junior Trophy.

Stisted FC lost 6-4 at home to Feering Village Res. Great Bradfords also suffered a home defeat to Old Saints United 1-3 Jamie Blunnie scoring for Great Bradfords. Brooklands Res had a home win against Witham Phoenix 3-1,Phoenix worked there socks off in this game after Brooklands Res scored first, but Phoenix despite being short on choice for a team and several players being injured and unwell managed to draw level with a goal coming from James Reilly. The home team scored two more goals in the closing minutes of the match. Kenson FC won 3-1 at home against Notley FC ,Edward Leader scored the goal for Notley FC.

Malcolm Foy Memorial Trophy.

Witham White Horse beat Braintree Athletic 2-1 in the Malcolm Foy Memorial Trophy group match. Braintree Athletic started well and took an early lead from striker Cam Easter with the assist coming from Ollie Evans, Witham White Horse grabbed an equaliser half way into the first half, Braintree Athletic picked up a couple of injured players before half time, Witham White Horse scored there second goal early in the second half after getting a penalty, Braintree Athletic just missed getting a late equaliser from an excellent shot from Dave Barnard. Goal scorers for Witham White Horse were Jack Swann and Nathan Turner.

Premier Division.

CFC Shalford 5 Halstead Town 1

Halstead Town took an early lead through Luis Berkane assist from Lewis Wollington, but goals from George Hamill & Craig Tomlinson put the hosts in front,Shalford also missed a penalty before half time.Second half goals from Lefcos Constantinou,Matt Smith, Jordan Fossey gave CFC Shalford a comfortable victory.

Swan Athletic drew 2-2 with Braintree Iron Sam Jones and Jordan Miller scored for the Iron.

Division 1.

Leaders Barnston AFC had an away win against Swizzino 3-1, Tyler Pearson scored for Swizzino. A seven goal thriller at Great Bardfield when they beat Braintree Legends 4-3 Robert Constantin scored a hat trick for Braintree Legends.

Division 2.

Bocking Social have been waiting all season for a win and it came against Notley Athletic in stile smashing in 4 goals with Ben McGlashan 2. Louis Claxton & Brad Hughes scoring, Notley Athletic got 1 consolation goal.
