Results Round Up – Sunday 11th April 2021
Braintree Iron kept their spot at the top of the table but that looks under threat as they allowed a 3-1 lead to slip to share the points 3-3 with CFC Shalford. Nags Head Celtic hold two games in hand now as Great Notley failed to raise a side to play on the day, Nags only need those three points to take top spot on goal difference! Drum Inn have temporarily taken second spot over Nags after a close 2-1 win over Western Arms who now sit 5thwith 4 games to play. Witham United and Swan Athletic switched league positions as United ran out convincing 5-1 winners at Sauls Bridge.
The race for the Division One title is hotting up with Panfield Bell looking good for it after a 3-0 win over Sporting 77. Finchingfield Rovers held on to second spot after a 4-2 win at Braintree Legends making this weekend’s fixture against Panfield Bell a big one! Don’t count out Halstead Town who saw off Notley First Team 3-0 and have a game in hand on the top two only 3 points off the Bell side at the top. Our mid table clash Barnston AFC and Flitch United finished in a 2-2 draw leaving both sides in 4th and 5th respectively.
It went from bad to worse for Great Bradfords First Team who have lost twice since returning from lockdown relinquishing top spot completely they fell 7-2 at home to a strong Coggeshall side who now sit 2 points below Bradfords in 4th with a game in hand! Great Bardfield failed to take the opportunity to make a play on the title race as they were beaten 4-1 by Stisted who now leap to second place. High Easter held top place even with two games in hand on Stisted after a close game with Bradwell ended 2-1 in their favour, it is fair to say it is High Easter’s title to lose! The bottom two sides thrashed it out at Thurstable but there was still no joy for White Horse who remain rooted to the bottom after a 5-1 win for Jobserve.
Stisted have had a great weekend, win for their first team a comfortable 3-0 win for the reserves over Dunmow United and as if that wasn’t enough their close challengers Notley Reserves dropped unexpected points against Great Bradfords Reserves who held the second place side to a 0-0 stalemate! Elsewhere we saw big scores as Tiptree Reserves made sure they weren’t out of the race as they saw off Broomfield 7-0 at Mill Lane two games in hand on Notley but 7 points between them and a massive four games on Stisted on top that would draw the two sides level should Tiptree pull off a big unbeaten run! TK Eagles took an opportunity to take Dunmow United’s fourth place as they beat league strugglers Witham Phoenix 7-1.
