County Cup Competitions
It was not a strong weekend for the BNESL in the county cup fixtures as out of eight fixtures only one of our teams progress to the next round.
Finchingfield Rovers travelled to Blackwater of the Pope and Smith in the Junior Cup in what proved to be a feisty affair with the home side edging it 4-2. Finchingfield were joined at Maldon Promenade on the next pitch as Great Bradfords First Team travelled to old BNESL members Heybridge Harriers again the home side came out on top as Heybridge progress at 4-1. Tiptree Jobserve First Team and Witham White Horse both welcomed Colchester League sides in Great Oakley and Clacton Spartans with our sides knocked out 2-4 and 1-4 respectively. An early morning drive out to Brightlingsea for Witham Phoenix proved fruitless as they were knocked out with 4 goals without reply. Newport Sunday saw off BNESL new boys Broomfield with a 7-2 victory, and Haver Town offered a similar defeat to High Easter as they fell 5-2 in round one.
Our congratulations for the weekend go to our young Dunmow United side who edged an away tie with Changing Lives of the Harlow and District League 0-1, they move on to round two!
