Results Round-up – Sunday 1st October 2017
Today Nags head Celtic went to a tough Bocking team and with more than a few lads led by the ever present Palmer out on the town and looked like they still were, Bocking went 1 nil up with Nags not clearing there lines and the Bocking striker with a neat finish and apart from a world class save from Ant Burton Nags went to half-time 1-0 down. In the 2nd half with everyone apart from Palmer sobering up Nags started brightly a rear headed goal from Rory Bone levelled it up then against run of play Bocking went 2-1 with the energetic Corey Carter on the pitch Nags looked brighter with Robbie Cole tricking down the line then Rory Bone equalised with a right foot pass shot before Corey Carter got the winner the best performance but Nags scraped through.
A good game featuring 9 goals at Broomfield with Shalford running out 5-4 winners. The visitors took the lead after 6 minutes when Tyrone White hit a great strike past the keeper from the edge of the area. A minute later Broomfield should of equalised but for a great save from Shalford keeper Colville. The hosts did equalise after 21 minutes when Ben Hampton fired home. The visitors went back in front 10 minutes before half-time when Ross McLaren poked the ball in following a corner which Broomfield failed to clear. 2 minutes later it was 3-1 to the visitors when White scored his scored slipping the ball past the keeper. Broomfield made it 3-2 just before half-time when Ben Hampton got his second of the half. 2 minutes in to the second half Broomfield drew level when a speculative shot from Josh Duhig went straight through the hands of Colville in the Shalford goal. Broomfield then went in front for the first time when Shalford failed to clear a corner and Ali was on hand to stab the ball in. 2 minutes later, Shalford equalised when White scored his hat-trick firing home left footed past the keeper. Shalford then scored what was to be the winner on the hour mark when a corner was cleared by Broomfield to the edge of the area and Matt Smith drilled the ball back towards goal and his goal bound effort took a deflection and flew past the keeper.
Flitch United remaining 3rd moving level with second place after beating Witham United 4-0. Flitch United goal scorers were Billy Skinner 3 and Rowen Drann 1.
Tiptree Elite picked up their first points today after a 3-1 win against Western Arms. Tiptree Elite goal scorers were Tim Eve, Scott Simmons and Mario Andrew while Western Arms goal scorer was Tony Walkin.
Bottom of the table Valley Green remain bottom after going down 3-2 in a close game against Black Notley who are unbeaten and 5th in the table, Valley Green’s goals were scored by Ryan McCormack and Jack Stoneham.
3rd Place Notley hosted 5th Bocking Social Reserves in a close game ending in a 4-4 draw. Both sides remain in the same position and Bocking Social Reserves are the only unbeaten side in Division 1.
Bottom of the table Onley entertained fourth place Great Bardfield. Great Bardfield go top with an impressive 1-4 win. Onley scorer Ben Collar. Great Bardfield scorers Adam Daniels 2, George Sheath and Scott Forbes.
8th place Braintree Legends entertained top of the table Witham Swan and ran out 20 and jumped to 4th place while Witham Swan dropped to 2nd place. Mark Reilly scored both goals for Braintree Legends.
Panfield Bell in 9th entertained Manor Works who are 7th in the league, Manor Works led 1-2 at half time and went in to win 2-4 and in doing so jumped to 3rd place. James Bender and Ryan Gilbert scored for Panfield Bell while Manor Works scorers were Stuart Marsh 2, Aaron Read and Robbie Willcocks.
6th place Witham Phoenix entertained 2nd place TK Eagles. With TK Eagles taking full advantage of their chances running out 10-1 winners to go top of Division 2. Witham Phoenix scorer D. Marshall, TK Eagles scorers Brett Melia 3, Andy Cheek 3, Jordon Hoy 2, Greg Corcoran and Ashley Turner.
Essex Sunday Junior Trophy 1st round
A hard fought game from both sides today as Great Bradfords met Witham Nomads in the county cup! Goals from Owen Gray and Jack Gilgrist within 38 seconds saw Bradfords with a comfortable lead early on. A goal from Leon Griffin saw Bradfords heading in to the break at 3-0 before Witham Nomads clawed a goal back out of nowhere. After the break an early Leon Griffin goal saw Bradfords 4-1 up before the team fell apart conceding 2 Nomads goals, and a penalty bringing the game to 4-4. The dying minutes were tight for all involved as Nomads took the lead for the first time on 54 minutes before Jack Gilgrist saw the game end 6-5 to Bradfords with two excellent goals to finish with an incredible County Cup Hat-trick! Bradfords move onto Round Two to meet CUSA after their triumph – a team they have never met and know little about! Bring on the challenge!
