Braintree Iron secured a hard fought win against our visitors from Ockendon Manor in the Essex Sunday Premier cup with a 3 – 1 win after extra time. As usual the Iron seemed to delight in making things difficult for themselves conceding the first goal against the run of play in the first half. Shortly into the second period Jack Evans leveled the scoring and Braintree then took control without managing to finish the game in 90 minutes. In the extra period there really was only one winner with Jordan Miller putting the Iron ahead with a quality finish into the top corner. Late substitute Joel Soraf put the result beyond doubt in the second extra period. Notable performances from the entire back line with Dan Ward winning the beer awarded by our sponsors for MOTM at The Pub. Lewis Soraf and Billy Capper both had huge games in the middle of the park. The match was officiated by Martin Weavers who kept good control and was hampered by the opposition failing to provide a linesman which was disappointing in a fixture at this level.

Great Bradford were away to Imara and lost 6-3. Great Bradfords goal scorers were Andy Turner 2 & Keith Jones.

Nags Head Celtic went out after losing 4-0 to Brays Athletic.

Witham United won 5-3 against Pools Athletic and go through to the next round, United’s goals were scored by S Barrett, R Bennett 2, J Smith, R Leftly.

Flitch United made a few changes to player and formation , this changed the game a mistake by the keeper saw Jake Buckland slot the ball home to make it 2-2 then James Clayden with a thundering shot of the bar was met by Collier to score his 2nd and Flitch’s 3rd . The game was still very tight then a great whipped in corner was met by Buckland at the front post for his 2nd making it 4-2 to flitch , with just minutes to go Elliot Elwood slotted the ball through for Buckland to finish for his Hat Trick . Dunmow Rhodes 5th hosted 1st place Tiptree Elite who stay on top with a 5-0 win.

Both Dunmow Rhodes and Tiptree Elite came into this match without losing a league match this season, so something had to give when they met at High Easter on a very wet Sunday morning. This was a very good game with both sides playing neat passing football in the first half, but three quick goals by Tiptree Elite, perhaps two were gifted goals, scored by Curtis Bonnick, Bradley James and Scott Simmons rarely put Dunmow Rhodes under pressure ,Dunmow Rhodes had at least three chances in the first half, but were unable to find the back of the net, so it stayed 0-3 at HALF TIME. The second half continued with more good football, and Dunmow Rhodes having a bit more of the play, and still causing problems for the opposition defence, and keeper Phil Morley stopping any danger from the Dunmow Rhodes forwards. Tiptree Elite put the game out of reach of Dunmow Rhodes with two good goals from Tim Eve and Matt Woodcraft to make the Final Score 0-5 which makes it four wins after four played for Tiptree Elite.
