Andy Livermore Premier Cup Semi Finals
Braintree Iron 3 v Halstead Town 2
A depleted Braintree Iron Squad overcame Halstead Town in this semi final of the Andy Livermore Premier Division Cup. The Iron started strongly establishing an early but never rarely hit top gear to put the game away. Halstead Town grew in confidence and came back into the fixture with a very determined and plucky display, in the end the Iron`s experience and physicality won out and saw the job done in 90 minutes. Braintree Iron goal scorers were Jordan Miller 2. Blake Cooke. Alex Miller and Blake Cooke both have been missing for a number of weeks were the pick of the managers bunch for special recognition. Halstead Town goal scorers were Pele Heydon and Jamie McNeilly.
CFC Shalford 2 v Finchingfield Rovers 3 ( AET)
Finchingfield Rovers scored two early goals to lead 2-0 at half time. The home side fought back to level the scores with a penalty from Matt Smith and the equaliser from Craig Tomlinson in the second half taking the game into extra time. Finchingfield Rovers went back in front early in the first period, and held on to progress to the final. Schweitzer 2 and Spencer scored for the Rovers.
Division 1 leaders AFC Barnston had an away win when they beat Coggeshall Town Under 23`s 3-6 Alfie Mason 2 and Harry Simmonds scored for the Coggeshall Town. Kelvedon Social had Liam Murphy 2. Mitch Brand. Aidan Ohara on the score sheet when the beat Braintree Legends 4-0.Great Bardfield drew 3-3 with Witham United. Tyler Wilsher, Ryan McCormack and Andy Barker scoring for Witham United while Matt Potter, Jack Morris and Gareth Coombes were on target for Great Bardfield.
High Easter 3 Swizzino 2
It was back to league action on Sunday for High Easter when the entertained Swizzino FC and picked up an excellent 3-2 win in this five goal thriller in front of an exceptional large crowd. Swizzino started well when High Easter defender JP.Alexander had to make goal line clearance in the first few minutes, and at the other end a great shot from High Easter`s Jack Shaw, which was his first game of the season was well saved by Swizzino keeper Dan Watson. With the away teams continues pressure on the High Easter goal, it was the home team who took the lead when defender Reece Cottrell headed in from close range, his first goal for nearly two seasons. High Easter made it 2-0 when Jack Shaw fired in a great shot from distance and the ball flew past keeper Dan Watson into the top corner. This was a good first half display by both teams with score 2-0 at Half Time in favour of the home team. The second half started with Swizzino playing well and they pulled a goal back through a headed goal by Connor Molloy to make it 2-1. Another good strike from Jack Shaw was well saved again by Dan Watson. Swizzino`s pressure on the High Easter goal paid off when Jamie James made a good run on goal and flashed the ball past keeper Harrie Irving to make it 2-2 with five minutes left in the game, the game could have went either way when High Easter keeper Harrie Irving pulling of the save of the match diving to his left but in the final minute a goal mouth scramble in the Swizzino defence saw Christian Roles whipp the ball in to the net to make the Final Score 3-2 which leaves High Easter unbeaten in the league after three games sitting in second place behind local neighbours AFC Barnston who are unbeaten after five games. It`s back to Cup Action on Sunday 31st Oct for High Easter when they travel to CFC Shalford in the group stage of the Gordon Snell Trophy 10.30am Kick Off.
Kavern FC won 2-0 against Notley FC. Both Halstead Town and Bocking Social put in a good performance in this eight goal thriller with Halstead Town winning 5-3 on target for the home team were Charlie Navesy,Tom Binks, Jack Newlove and Alex Newton 2.Bocking Social marksmen were Brad Hughes , Ryan Kehoe and Ben McGlashen.
Notley FC Res beat Valley Green 7-2 goal scorers for Notley FC Res were Jack Rayner 3, Liam Gill 2, Kate Gilbert 2. Valley Green scorers were Aiden Lizzimore and Joe Borien. This was a game of two half`s, Valley Green were very good in the first half went 2-1 down and then the second half Notley Res dominated possession and there superior fitness was very telling towards the end.
It was a top of the table clash at Stisted Res who are top of the league and they entertained second place Dunmow United with the score ending 1-1 George Kinkaid scoring for Stisted Res. What a game this turned out to be, TK.Eagles came out strong and were 2-0 up at half time, the half time talk for Witham Phoenix did not go as planned as TK.Eagles took a 3-0 lead, Phoenix continued to battle hard and finally scored later in the game, both teams scored and with ten minutes left it was 4-2 to home side, but again Phoenix found the goal to make it 4-3 and in the dying minutes after a goal mouth scramble Witham Phoenix were level through an own goal and the game ending 4-4. James Reilly 2 Bradley Grey and the own goal were scored for Witham Phoenix. Brandon Seaber 2.Chris Lancaster and Glynn McNulty whipped in the goals for TK.Eagles.
