A narrow 1-0 victory for Braintree Iron against Premier Division long servers Western Arms saw them top of the division on goal difference. CFC Shalford joined the high flyers and the high scorers as they put 7 past recent returners Great Notley United in what was a hard away day for the new boys the fixture finishing 7-1. After a system shock for early strong boys Drum Inn last week they recovered well to defeat Witham United 6-2, with Drum now completing the top 3 all sitting on 9 points but way off the pace on goal difference at the moment. The last fixture of the day saw Swan Athletic earn their second point of the season as they welcomed last season’s unbeaten side Nags Head Celtic to Saul’s bridge in a 3-3 draw. From memory that is Nags Head Celtic now unbeaten in league fixtures since the 2018/19 season – a great record for them can they keep it that way and make use of their game in hand!
After a miserable opening day Halstead Town have flown as they continued the winning streak to a third successive match as they saw off Flitch United in a 2-1 win for the away side to keep touch at the top. Panfield Bell continue strong contenders for the title as they put 3 past Braintree Legends at King George’s to hold top spot for the weekend on goal difference as they sit level on points with Halstead Town. A hot contest at Four Releet saw a 2-2 draw as Sporting 77 picked up their first point of the season against Notley First Team. Notley slip behind the two top teams now sitting in third, level on points with AFC Barnston who bounce back from last week’s loss to draw 1-1 at home to Finchingfield Rovers. A tight division still at the quarter way mark with 2 points separating our top 4 and the next few sides not miles away! All to play for!
Coggeshall Town held on to top spot on goal difference as they put 4 unanswered goals past Witham White Horse in Marks Tey which leaves White Horse still looking for their first points. Stisted FC First kept pace levelling Coggeshall’s points tally as they saw a 5-1 victory over Tiptree Jobserve First Team. Great Bradfords First Team are also just 3 goals off top spot sitting on 9 points alongside the top two as they reacted to last week’s loss to put 5 past Bradwell Rovers who were unable to find the net this week. Great Bardfield took themselves off the bottom spot as they earned 3 points in a convincing 5-1 victory at High Easter FC. All the teams in this division are taking points off of each other leaving it wide open!
The only team with a 100% win record after four matches sit top of Division Three as Notley FC Reserves won convincingly once again with a 5-2 score line at Thurstable against TK Eagles. Tiptree Jobserve Reserves are within touching distance and have caught high scorers Notley’s goal difference with a 16-0 win over Witham Phoenix who struggled on the day with players missing, it will come for this great set of lads! Stisted FC Reserves enjoyed a good home day with 3 unanswered goals past Great Bradfords Reserves who sit second bottom after four games with Stisted keeping in reach of Notley and level with Tiptree. The two young new teams, Broomfield FC and Dunmow United cancelled each other out as the wind impacted a good contest to see a 1-1 draw between the two sides. Another competitive division, can Notley keep up their early pace!
