Results ‘Round-up’ – Sunday 29th October 2017
Big week in the Premier Division this week with the top four teams playing each other.
Top of the table Nags Head Celtic hosted CFC Shalford and it was the visitors who took the lead after 17 minutes when Tyrone White fired the ball past Cole in the Celtic goal after good build up play. Shalford increased their lead after half an hour when Celtic failed to clear a corner and Readhead set up White to score his second goal striking the ball in to the corner of the net. A defensive blunder allowed Nags Head back in to the game with 10 minutes of the first half remaining when Corey Carter fired past Colville. The home side started the second half well and they equalised 8 minutes in when a free-kick from Radley fell to Charlie Palmer who finished past Colville. The hosts went in front for the first time on the hour mark when they were awarded a penalty, Charlie Palmer stepped up to score his second of the the game to make it 3-2. Shalford fought back and with 10 minutes left, Readhead played a ball through to White who ran clear of the defence and slotted past Cole for his hat-trick to make it 3-3.
Third place Black Notley hosted second place Flitch United and ran out 3-2 winners in a close game and swapped places in the league with Flitch United. Flitch United goal scorers were Ezra Drann & Kieran Head.
Broomfield FC in tenth place hosted Tiptree Elite in seventh in a game which saw Broomfield move to seventh place with a 5-0 win. Broomfield FC goal scorers were Ben Thompson 2, Ben Hampton, Jibby Ali and Sam Duhig.
Sporting 77 in seventh hosted Tiptree Jobserve eighth with the away side winning 7-6 to go sixth in the league. Sporting 77 goal scorers were Jack McIntyre, Adam Ryan, Michael Pitts, Charlie Luxton, Jordon Phillips & Chris Cook. Tiptree Jobserves goal scorers were James Scarlett 4, Glenn Wiggins, Danny Gill and Jim Robinson.
Witham Phoenix hosted Braintree Legends and the opening goal went to the visitors when Gary Harbert scored via a deflection, Witham Phoenix equalised just before half time with a free kick from Chris Lucking, in the second half Neil Lewis and Fab Williams scored to make it 3-1 to Phoenix, Braintree Legends were awarded a penalty which was saved by Aaron O’Shea, Braintree Legends then scored a second through Jonaldo Jonatelli late in the second half.
Dunmow Rhodes 5-0 Manor Works
Another good alround team performance by the inform Dunmow Rhodes, when they entertained Manor Works FC at High Easter on Sunday, winning the match 5-0. Rhodes took the lead after fifteen minutes of play when a corner kick by Adam Griggs saw the ball bobbling about in the goal mouth, from defenders trying to clear or forwards trying to score,and the ball ending up at Rhodes skipper Christian Roles boot, who tucked the ball into the net.Rhodes soon made It 2-0 when neat work from Sam Hockley found Sam Duberry in space,his shot from distance, gave Manor Works keeper no chance to save,when the ball flew into the net,finding the top corner.With the first half coming to an end,Rhodes made it 3-0,with another excellent long range shot,this time from Adam Griggs,the ball hitting the underside of the cross bar, and then hitting the back of the net with pace.Manor Works started the second half well creating a few chances, but Rhodes began to take control,and two more goals came,from corner kicks,Adam Griggs sent his cross over from the right flank,and it was met by Christian Roles to make it 4-0 with a good strike ,and his second goal of the game,Roles completed his hat trick,from a corner again, taken this time by George Hamill,Roles tucked it into the back of the net to make the Final Score 5-0.
Witham Nomads fourth in the table we’re home to Witham Swan second and they won 4-2 to move to third place. Witham Nomads goal scorers were Eddie Holroyd 2, Joe Cornwall & Aidan Lizzimore. Witham Swan goal scorer was Marc De La Rue 2.
Gordon Snell Trophy 2nd Round
Notley FC hosted Onley Arms both teams from Division One and Onley ran out 0-4 winners. Onley Arms goal scorers were Ben Collar 2, Dave Smith, Sam Phillips.
Division one Cup – Group Stage A
Great Bardfield hosted Great Notley in this tie between the top two teams in Division one with today’s game finishing in a 2-2 draw. Great Bardfield goal scorers were Stan Flight, Charlie Holmes & Connor Hopkins. Great Notley goal scorers were Ben Hockley 2 & Ross Layton 1 (Pen).
Division One Cup – Group Stage B
Great Bradford’s hosted Bocking Social Reserves with the game ending in a 2-2 draw. Great Bradford’s goal scorers were Tom Doughty & Charlie Partridge and Bocking Social Reserves goal scorers were Aaron Mangan & Will Meekings.
Division Two Cup
Tolleshunt Knights Eagles hosted Great Bradford Reserves with Great Bradford Reserves going through to the next round with a 3-1 Win against top of the table Eagles. TK Eagles goal scorer was Greg Corcoran 1 and Great Bradford Reserves goal scorers were Jack Gilgrist, Mike Kayley & Leon Griffin.
Valley Green Reserves hosted Panfield Bell with the Bell going through 4-5. Valley Green Reserves goal scorers were Ben Platten 2, Tyler Smart & Harry Bingham. Panfield Bell’s goal scorers were James Crane, Toby Gross, Ben Parker, Ryan Gilbert & James Bender.
Essex Sunday Premier Cup
Western Arms hosted Sutton United and were the only Braintree Representatives to go through winning 2-0. Western Arms goal scorers were Kev Hawes & Dave Hawes.
Bocking Social 3-5 Basildon Town. Bocking Social goal scorers were Stuart Kent, Matthew Stepton & Matthew Compstiv.
Hullbridge Sports 10-1 Valley Green. Valley Greens goal scorer was Jack Stoneham.
Wheatley’s beat Braintree Iron 5-0.
