Results Round-up Sunday 2nd September 2018
Braintree Iron got their League Premier Division season off to a winning start with a 5 – 1 home win over Witham Utd. The Iron went behind mid way through the first half but battled back well despite an unusually depleted squad to secure all 3 points. The Amber and Blacks goalscorers were Jack Evans (2) Sam Jones (2) and Nick Stackhouse. Luke Frisby was voted man of the match having had a solid game in an unaccustomed role on the left side of defence. Jack Evans on debut bagged an impressive brace.
Both teams observed a minutes applause before kick off in respect of Andy Livermore and his contribution to our competition may he Rest In Peace.
Flitch United hosted CFC Shalford. The game was very even in the first half not much between the two sides . Second half was a different story with Flitch controlling a lot of the ball and the change of the game come with Aaron Collier Ex Shalford played receiving the ball through taking it round 2 defenders and the goalie before tapping it home. Moments later the game was sealed with Aaron Collier curling a 25 yard free kick beyond the goalkeeper.
Great Bradfords last seasons Division One winners hosted last seasons Premier winners Nags Head Celtic with the home side losing 8-2. Great Bradfords goal scorers were Andy Turner & Jack Gilgrist and Nags Head Celtic’s goal scorers were Rory Bone 4, Sean Radley, Filip Kottas & Robert Cole 2.
Western Arms got of to a flying start at home to Bocking Social winning 7-1. Western Arms goal scorers were Mike Walkin, Andy O’Conner 4, Adam Hewitt & Sam Hollocks. Bocking Social’s goal scorer was Tyler Kemp.
Bocking Eagles hosted Sporting 77 and lost 5-3. Bocking Eagles goal scorers were Adam Palmer 2 & Isaac Falk 1. Sporting 77’s goal scorers were Josh Palmer 2, Jordan Philips 1, Thom Scotting 1 & Luke Anderson 1.
Dunmow Rhodes 5 Notley FC 3
This match was an eight goal thriller at it`s best for the start of the Braintree & North Essex Sunday League division 1 between Dunmow Rhodes FC and Notley FC at High Easter on Sunday. Notley started well scoring early after a defence mix up allowing Ben Brown to score with a neat shot, Notley were still having most of the play in the first half, but Dunmow Rhodes were starting to get more into the match with Christian Roles having a shot well saved by Notley keeper Arron Murray, Dunmow Rhodes midfield player Lewis Roe was having a great game, feeding his forwards well with excellent passing, keeper Arron Murray was called into action again from a Warren Baines shot which he saved and it stayed 0-1 at Half Time. The second half got underway with Dunmow Rhodes forward Kennie Irving seeing his shot hit the post ,and the ball falling into Arron Murrays hands for safety, Dunmow Rhodes drew level from an Adam Griggs corner which found the head of Christian Roles, and the ball flashing into the net.
The game continued with both teams playing excellent football, and also keeper Arron Murray kept busy by the Dunmow Rhodes forwards, but Notley hit there second goal from a brilliant shot from Joe Russell, Dunmow Rhodes hit back to make it 2-2 ,Warren Baines sent a pass to Christian Roles to fire home, Notley took the lead again, a free kick from Danny Sutton, saw his shot fly past keeper Luke Johnson to make it 2-3.Dunmow Rhodes scored straight from the kick off ,Warren Baines again providing Christian Roles with another pass to score his hat trick 3-3. The goals kept coming for Dunmow Rhodes and it was Christian Roles again from an Adam Griggs cross it was met by Roles with a strong headed goal to make 4-3 and goal number 4 for Roles. Sam Hockley was through on goal for Dunmow Rhodes but was brought down just outside the area, the resulting free kick went wide from George Watkins powerful shot, George Watkins did get on the score sheet after a strong run on goal and another great shot with the ball flying past keeper Arron Murray to make the Final Score 5-3 in this classic encounter, and credit to Referee Dave Czyzewicz who controlled the game well.
Onley Arms hosted Braintree Legends runners up in Division 2 last season with Braintree Legends winning 0-6. Braintree Legends goal scorers were Ruso Robert Constantine 3, Jon Archer, Gary Herbert & an OG.
Panfield Bell hosted Witham Nomads both promoted from Division Two and Panfield Bell won 7-1. Panfield Bells goal scorers were Joe Johnson 2, Ben Parker 2, Jack Rolf 2 & Ryan Gilbert. Witham Nomads goal scorer was Joe Cornwall.
Tiptree Elite relegated from the Premier Division hosted Tiptree Jobserve and won with the only goal of the game 1-0.
New side Heybridge Harriers hosted Great Bradfords Reserves and won 3-2. Heybridge Harriers goal scorers were Conor Davis, Jack Howe & Lewis Thacker. Great Bradfords Reserves goal scorers were Tate Coburn & Leon Griffin.
Tiptree Jobserve Reserves a new team to the league hosted Manor Works and lost 1-2 to the away side.
Witham Phoenix hosted T K Eagles and there game was a 2-2 draw. Witham Phoenix goal scorers were Fab Williams & Mark Reilly. T K Eagles goal scorers Brandon Seabar & Jordon Hoy.
Witham Town FC hosted Notley Sunday Reserves both sides are new to the league and Notley Sunday Reserves ran out 2-0 winners. Notley Sunday Reserves goal scorers were Bradley Barnard & Sam Love.
Witham White Horse hosted new side Finchingfield Rovers and the Home side won 3-1. Witham White Horse goal scorers were Ben Platter, Marc de la Rue & James McGee.
