Malcolm Foy Memorial Trophy
Dunmow Rhodes who were last seasons runners up in The Malcolm Foy Memorial Trophy moved into the second round of this seasons competition after winning 3-2 against Panfield Bell on Sunday, and will now make the trip to Witham Nomads in the next round.Panfield Bell got off to a cracking start in the first minute of the game when Joe Spencer on the left flank hit a well placed shot into the net, which gave Dunmow Rhodes keeper Luke Johnson no chance to save.As the first half continued Dunmow Rhodes were getting more into the game, with Warren Baines sending in a good shot which the Panfield Bell keeper saved well. The ever busy George Hamill sent in an excellent cross which found Charlie Gooch in space to sweep the ball into the net to make it 1-1.Another decent shot from George Hamill hit the cross bar but it stayed 1-1 at Half Time.Dunmow Rhodes came out strong again in the second half and took a 2-1 lead from a great pass by Adam Griggs to Charlie Gooch, his strong run and cross down the left flank, saw the ball flash into net with pace.Adam Griggs got on the score sheet himself ,when Sam Hockley sent in a neat pass, and Griggs curled his shot round the keeper into the top corner of the goal to make it 3-1.Dunmow Rhodes were then being put under pressure by Panfield Bell and they pulled a goal back from a good strike by Lewis Sonnex, the Dunmow Rhodes defence held firm and the Final Score ending 3-2.

Premier Division Cup
Braintree Iron progressed through to the next round of the Premier Division Cup seeing off Great Bardfield 0 – 4 away from home. The first half was fairly tight with Iron defending against the slope, Nick Stackhouse popping up with with a goal just before the break to create an advantage that Braintree never looked like surrendering. In the second period Stackhouse added a second with further goals coming from a powerful Sam Jones header and one for the dubious goals panel – Dan Ward has been credited although there was a suggestion of an own goal ! Iron were able to utilise their full squad for the last half an hour to give much deserved game time to Will Hardy, Joel Soraf, Waddle Morris and Matthew Norris who on debut defied his age with some clever touches and did not look out of place at senior level. Our keeper rarely gets a mention but Phil Phillipou had a fine game between the sticks making a big difference from the recent League game between the sides adding great distribution to start the attacking moves. The skipper Daniel Norris was the Irons stand
out performer today who along with Nick Stackhouse for his brace got a share of the vote for Man of the Match.
