Braintree Iron remain top of the table following a 7 – 0 win over Great Notley. Unfortunately Notley started the match with only 8 players which made for a scrappy game and an unbalanced result. The Iron would like to put on record their appreciation to the Great Notley lads who did turn out and really put in a great effort. The result was beyond doubt by half time with the Amber and Blacks having established a 4 – 0 lead before the opposition were boosted up to the full 11 players. The match did however provide the opportunity for the Iron to utilise and rotate the whole playing squad with some game time for in “experimental” and interesting positions and formations! Shane Dawkins had a great game between the sticks and gives us great confidence moving forward. Dan Ward was on top form creating several over-laps and delivering some great crosses which weren’t all capitalised on.

Dunmow Rhodes and Great Bradfords Res played a tense and an excellent match in the Malcolm Foy Memorial Trophy Semi – Final on Sunday with Dunmow Rhodes winning 3-2 and reaching the final stage for the second season running.Dunmow Rhodes made a decent start to the game ,creating chances and getting several corners at the same time.Dunmow Rhodes took the lead midway through the first half, from the penalty spot, when Kennie Irving converted, hitting the ball past Great Bradfords keeper Stephen Ferguson.Dunmow Rhodes soon made it 2-0 from the ball control specialist Emilio Caceres -Sola beating three players on route and whipping the ball into the net. Great Bradfords were still working hard to get back into the game and were awarded a penalty which Jack Morter converted to make the 2-1 at Half Time. Fast flowing football continued in the second half from both teams and the busy Great Bradfords forward Callum Denson keeping the Dunmow Rhodes defence busy, but Kennie Irving eased the pressure a bit when he hit his second goal of the game after receiving a good pass from Jake Sutton to make it 3-1, but Great Bradfords hit back when Leon Griffin sent over a good cross from the left flank and it was met by Mike Kayley who fired in a great shot past keeper Luke Johnson. In the final minutes of the game both teams were looking for more goals with end to end football with excellent pace, but Dunmow Rhodes held on with the Final Score 3-2.
