Results Round up – Sunday 6th September 2020
A competitive start to the Premier Division saw some tight results. Four goals apiece saw honours shared at Sauls Bridge as tow new comers to the Prem met on day one in what one can only assume was an entertaining affair with eight goals! – Swan Athletic 4 Great Notley 4. CFC Shalford dampended Witham United’s return to the BNESL running out 3-1 winners with their much rejuvenated squad, this sees CFC Shalford sitting top after the first weekend. The final fixture saw strong new side Drum Inn against reigning champions from 2018/19 Braintree Iron with the new side edging it in a 3-2.
A strong weekend in Division One saw all eight teams in action. Finchingfield Rovers promoted last season saw a successful start beating Sporting 77 2-1. Notley FC First sit top after a 3-0 victory at home to Halstead Town FC. Another close fixture saw success for the home side again as Flitch United come out 2-1 victors against Panfield Bell. The last fixture in the division saw Braintree Legends welcome Barnston AFC to King George’s with the away side edging the match 1-0.
Stisted FC First Team opened their season at home to Bradwell Rovers with the away side walking away 3-1 winners. Great Bradfords First Team edge another close scoreline as they welcomed Witham White Horse to Blackmore End and ran out 3-2 victors. Relegated side Great Bardfield met newcomers Coggeshall Town with the new side enjoying a 3-0 win in their first match, and top of the league after day one. The last fixture saw High Easter welcome Tiptree Jobserve First Team as they started under their new name, Jobserve found themselves with the victory at final whistle after a 2-1 affair.
The newest BNESL division started on Day one as three new sides entered the league with some of our long servers, a first step for some in Senior Football. Tiptree Jobserve Reserves met Stisted FC Reserves on day one at Thurstable with the home side coming up short in a 5-2 loss as Stisted secured the victory. Top spot after day one went to Notley FC Reserves as Thurstable saw more goals as they put 7 past Witham Phoenix in a 7-1 win. Elsewhere both our new sides into Men’s football Dunmow United and Broomfield FC both enjoyed opening day success as Dunmow United came out 3-2 winners against TK Eagles and in the first fixture played at Mill Lane Broomfield FC beat fellow newcomers Great Bradfords Reserves 2-0.
