Results Round-up – Sunday 8th April 2018

Gordon Snell 4th Round

After several postponements due to adverse weather conditions Braintree Iron progressed into the semi finals of the Gordon Snell Cup beating Western Arms 3 – 0 at King George’s. The game was closely contested but the depth of the Iron squad proved to be the difference on the day. Once again the Amber and Blacks back line and keeper were outstanding in keeping yet another clean sheet confirming the best defensive record in the League. Jordan Miller following an injury plagued season is coming right back into top form and capped an impressive performance with 2 goals. Nick Stackhouse was Iron’s other goalscorer. Braintree Iron now move on to next weeks top of the table clash against Nags Head Celtic.

Invitation Trophy Group A

Sporting 77 hosted Great Bardfield FC and won 4-2. Sporting 77’s goal scorers were Jordan Phillips 3 & Jack McIntyre. Great Bardfield’s goal scorers were Matthew Potter and Scott Forbes.

Neil Horrocks Memorial Invitation Plate

Panfield Bell hosted Notley FC and the away side won 2-1. Notley FC’s goal scorers were Danny Downes & Darren Douglas. Panfield Bell’s goal scorer was Joe Johnson.

Premier Division

Broomfield FC 9th hosted Flitch United 4th with the away side winning 5-2. Broomfield FC’s goal scorers were Harry Cawston & Sam Duhig. Flitch United’s goal scorers were Andrew Reed 2, Theo Manley, Ezra Drann & Troy Featherstone.

CFC Shalford 3rd hosted Witham United 6th and won 8-2 and moved to the top of the Premier Division league table. The home side shot in to a early 2-0 lead with goals from Matt Smith and Tyrone White, Witham Utd fought back and made the score 2-2 with a brace from Liam Smith, Shalford made it 3-2 just before half time when Matt Smith scored his second of the game. The home side secured a convincing win in the second half with two further goals from Tyrone White to complete his hat-trick, a brace from Aaron Collier and one from Levi Gray.

Division One

Great Bradford’s 5th hosted Tiptree Jobserve 3rd and won 1-0 to move up to 4th place. Great Bradfords goal was an own goal.

Division Two

Dunmow Rhodes returned to league action on Sunday at High Easter and played a very sporting Witham Swan side who could only field nine players.Dunmow Rhodes were also hit by a few players being unavailable ,including two main goalkeepers,so player manager George Alexander doned the keepers kit,and had an easy game with his defence cutting out any Witham Swan attacks.Rhodes were quick off the mark scoring in the first five minutes when Jake Sutton sent over a good cross from the left flank, with Kennie Irving sending the ball past the keeper from a decent header.Witham Swan were making Rhodes work hard in the first half,but a second goal came,with Jake Sutton latching on to a Kennie Irving cross to make it 2-0 at Half Time. Rhodes started the second half strongly and hit there third goal,when Kennie Irving found Ben Fisher in space to fire a good shot past the keeper,Rhodes had a corner taken by Adam Griggs ,his cross found Ollie Blower who sent in a bullet header into the net to make it 4-0. A Witham Swan own goal made it 5-0 to Rhodes,but the biggest cheer and celebrations of the game was when Witham Swan scored from a good strike by Joe Jackson.Rhodes skipper Christian Roles completed the scoring with a great shot,the ball flying past the keeper,who had a good game through out the match.Final Score 6-1 .Man of the Match for Dunmow Rhodes was Kennie Irving.Dunmow Rhodes goal scorers were Oliver Blower, Ben Fisher, Kennie Irving, Christian Roles, Jake Sutton, & an OG. Witham Swan’s goal scorer was Joe Jackson.

Witham Nomads 3rd hosted leaders Braintree Legends with the away side winning 5-1 and they are now guaranteed at least 2nd place in the league. Witham Nomads goal scorer was Sam Greenhagh. Braintree Legends goal scorers were Mark Reilly, Jon Archer, Mike Emerson, Aaron Chinery & Jonatelli Jonaldo.
