Tiptree Jobserve Reserves 4th hosted Finchingfield Rovers 2nd and the game ended in a 2-2 draw with no movement. Tiptree Jobserve Reserves goal scorers were Jack Johnson & Kieran Oakley and Finchingfield Rovers goal scorer was Charlie Pitt 2.

After their first league defeat of the season last week and with Tiptree climbing the table, this was always going to be a keenly fought game.

An even opening saw Rovers create a few half chances before Constantinou was scythed down in the Tiptree box but unfortunately, the ref was not at the right angle to see what the other 100 people present saw. Rovers eventually took the lead through Charlie Pitt after more good work from Constantinou down the left.

Rovers were edging the half but Tiptree levelled from a well delivered free kick where one of their players prodded home after a scramble to the second ball.

The second half was more of the same with Rovers creating the much better chances as ball after ball, flashed across the box but we couldn’t convert. We thought we had when Durrant smashed one that hit the post and somehow didn’t roll in. Huge shout out to the young Tiptree keeper who had a fine game and produced a breathtaking save from our skipper Miles when it was headed for the top corner. Thankfully, Charlie Pitt cropped up again to make it 2-1 Rovers.

Finchingfield’s lack of a third was always going to be dicey and so it proved when we gave the ball away in a dangerous area, right at the end before a Tiptree midfielder tried his luck from long range and the sweetly hot shot flew in to make it 2-2

Our thoughts are with the player on the pitch opposite who had to be attended to by an ambulance, we hope it’s not as serious as feared.

Well done to all players wearing rainbow laces and supporting the inclusion of the LGBT community in football.
