This week’s fixture list was dominated by the Charlie Turnbull Memorial Trophy with eight second round ties taking place.
The shock of the day saw division two leaders Witham United thump premier division Rayne 7-2, Tyler Wilsher netted a brace and one a piece for Marti Cullum, Liam Smith, Joe Fairbrother, John Button and Luke Wilsher. Aaron Mitson and Steve Humphreys scored the consolation goals for Rayne.
A similar score line saw Beaumont Wanderers beat Witham Swan 7-3, Ezra Drann scored two and one each for Dave Smith, Josh Freedman, Ben Johnston, Daniel Lodge and Danny Smith. Tony Jackson with two and Dan Lodge netted for Swan.
Bocking Social went out losing 3-1 after extra time at home against new boys Tiptree Elite with Stuart Kent scoring the only goal for Bocking.
Cressing won 3-1 at home against CSS Celtic, Tyrone White with two and Matt Smith scoring for Cressing.
Titan United progressed to round three with a 4-2 win away against Notley, Both teams made a good start with visitors Titan from the top division having some good chances which home keeper Ben Warren kept out, but it was the division three hosts Notley that took the lead when George Rickard converted, the visitors equalised before half time. After a tight opening to the second half Titan grabbed the initiative by scoring three quick goals, Notley didn’t give up and had ample opportunities to score Ashley Phillips lobbed the keeper to get Notley’s second. Ryan Spong and Patrick Harrison both scored twice for Titan.
George FC are through following a 5-0 win away against Great Bardfield, Josh Goodey and Ricky Finnigan netted two each with Craig Rumbelow completing the scoring.
Old Bramstonians won 2-0 at home against Witham Nomads with Sam Parsons netting both goals.
Sporting 77 entertained CFC Shalford and it was the hosts who went in front in the first half when Luke Anderson scored, Toby Blanche got the equaliser for Shalford before the interval. Toby Blanche with his second, Jordan Miller and Josh Grainger netted further goals for Shalford in the second half to see them secure a 4-1 win.
In League action, Witham Galacticos opened up a three point lead at the top of Division One after a 6-3 win at home against Manor works, Jamie Lawes netted twice with Mitchell Yeo, Kane Orr, Jamie Panting and an own goal completing the scoring. Chris Hobster and Lee Cuddeford with two scored for the visitors.
CFC Shalford ‘A’ won 5-2 at home against Tolleshunt Knight Eagles in Division Two to move up to fourth place, Josh Jenkins and Richard Wood scored braces and one from Jack Gilgrist. Sam Berriman and Sean Corcoran netted the goals for Eagles.
Onley Arms and Silver End Social drew 2-2 in Division Three Visitors Social took the lead through Chris King with a well placed finish inside the box after good work from Andy Howard on the wing. The home side fought back and went in to a 2-1 lead thanks to goals from Matt Stacey and Jack Soar, Social equalised in style thanks to a fantastic volley from Daniel Tiller late on and were denied all 3 points in the dying minutes when a deflected Tiller shot struck the post.
Coggeshall Town maintained their 100% record and opened up a three point lead at the top with a 4-0 win at home against Bocking Social Reserves. Harvey Clark, Sam O’Connell and Liam Whittaker with two scoring for Town.
