It was the first week of the season and with all games going ahead it makes for a great start.
The Premier Division saw newly promoted Cressing entertained CFC Shalford. It was the visitors who took the initiative going in to a 2-0 lead in the first 20 minutes, Toby Blanche headed home the first from a corner and then Sam Jones doubled the lead heading home after great work from James Chalk on the left. Cressing pulled one back through Tyrone White. Toby Blanche added his second and Shalford’s third before White pulled another back for Cressing. Lee Glynn then made it 4-2 to Shalford before Andy Turner added a fifth before half-time. White pulled another back for Cressing early in the second half from a penalty to complete his hat-trick. Toby Blanche then completed his hat-trick on his debut scoring from a penalty. James chalk and an own goal completed the scoring for Shalford.
George FC had Western Arms at home and the game finished close one nil to Western scorer Keaton Riseborough. Rayne lost 2-1 to Sporting 77 and Beaumont Wanderers lost 6-0 to S C Crittall scorers for Crittall were Matt Staines 2, Kane Dobrowolski, Rory Bone, Bradley Hickman and Jake Gilder.
The First Division saw Manor Works go 3 nil up in the first half but fall away in the second to lose 6-3 to Bocking Social. Zizou lost 4-2 to Terling Villa and CFC Shalford Reserves grabbed a late winner thanks to Darren Pitt to win 1-0 over Panfield Bell. Valley Green and Witham Galacticos battled out a 2-2 draw to share the spoils.
In the Second Division the game of the day was at Panfield bell Reserves against Witham Nomads with Nomads taking it 6-5 Ross Wilson with a hat-trick, 2 for Joe Cornwall and Eddie Harold completing the goals for Witham Nomads, Sporting 77 reserves won 7-2 over TK Eagles and Witham United won 5-3 over Tiptree Elite. CFC Shalford A completed a great day for their club by winning in a close game 3-2 over S C Kelvedon.
Games in the Third Division saw Notley play Witham Swan 20 minutes into the first half Jason Thompson chipped a ball over to Ashley Philips who in turn half volleyed the ball over the keeper for Notley to take the lead 25min into the second half swan equalised from a low driven corner which could only be turned into Notley’s own net by a defender trying to clear. Bocking Social Reserves lost 4-1 at home to new team Coggeshall Town and Witham Phoenix won 6-2 over Valley green reserves scorers for Phoenix were Connor West, Darren Stokes, Keith McCoy, Mark Marriott, Remy Stewart and Rhys Stewart. Next Week sees the start of the divisional cups along with important league games.
